Floor Installation Process
In a perfect world where everything was constructed perfectly, a flooring project would always cut and dry. For instance, all sub flooring would be in perfect condition, perfectly level, and all walls would be perfectly plum, coming together at a perfect right angle.
However, as one of the most experienced flooring teams in Maryland, we realize the impossibility of that scenario and plan accordingly. We have seen it all. As a result, our experience allows us to handle any circumstance imaginable. Without doubt, our team is able to roll through an installation and deliver the best without the customer knowing otherwise.
The Design Process
To get started, our design team works toward a full understanding of what you, the customer, want and how you intend to use the space. With this in mind, we map out your vision precisely and configure the installation to fit with the layout of your home. Next, we provide a visual of the final layout for your approval, so you can get an idea of how the final product will look.
Our crews begin construction and start removing the molding over the existing floors. Accordingly, these moldings can be reused if the customer chooses to do so. Once the moldings are safely removed, we start prying up the old floor boards, pulling up old carpet, or removing tile.
Next, we assess the sub-flooring and ensure it’s in good condition as a reliable base for the new flooring. With attention to condition, any sections with rot or damage are replaced. The last step is cleaning the sub-floor and prepping it for the new flooring applications.
At last, the new flooring is applied to the sub-floor. This is where the customer’s custom decisions take center stage. In the case of carpeting, a carpet mat/padding is first rolled out and cut to fit the entire surface. Next, the carpet is then rolled on top, cut to fit the entire surface, then tightened and securely tucked flush up against the wall.
Floor boards are measured and cut to fit the space with precision. They are laid to interlock and leave clean straight seams.
Tile is laid out in advance to ensure an optimal layout and fit. The layout is drawn onto the sub-floor before the mortar is applied and the tiles are set.
Finishing The Floors
Now that the new floors are installed, finishing touches are applied. In regard to carpeting, we ensure there are no bunches, the carpet is firmly set, and all carpet fibers are removed from the carpeting.
In regard to flooring planks, we check lines, ensure optimal contact with the sub floor, and give the surface a thorough cleaning.
For the tile we apply the grout, smooth the grout lines, and thoroughly clean the tile.
All flooring projects are finished with installing new molding or reinstalling the molding that was removed at the start of the job.
